Bournemouth Reject Chelsea's £64 Million Bid for Alex Scott as Midfielder's Future Remains Uncertain

Chelsea have suffered a major setback in their pursuit of Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott after the Premier League club rejected a £64 million offer and made it clear that they have no intention of selling one of their most valuable players this summer.

The Cherries have informed Chelsea that they consider the matter closed and do not welcome any further approaches for the England Under-21 international. Despite growing interest from several top clubs, Bournemouth remain determined to keep Scott as they prepare for another demanding campaign following their qualification for the UEFA Europa League.

The situation, however, is far from straightforward. While Bournemouth are insisting that Scott will remain at the club, the 22-year-old has reportedly declined a new contract that has been on the table for more than two months. With only two years remaining on his current deal, speculation over his long-term future is expected to continue throughout the transfer window.

Chelsea are not the only club monitoring the talented midfielder. Arsenal, Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City have all shown interest in signing Scott this summer. Arsenal previously had an approach rejected earlier in the transfer window, highlighting Bournemouth's consistent stance that the midfielder is not for sale.

Scott joined Bournemouth from Bristol City in 2023 in a deal worth around £25 million after establishing himself as one of the brightest young midfielders in English football. Since arriving on the south coast, he has continued to develop into a key player, making 89 appearances and scoring six goals while earning praise for his energy, creativity and composure in midfield.

Bournemouth are in a strong financial position and are under little pressure to cash in on their star players. The club generated significant income from player sales last summer, including the departures of Dean Huijsen, Milos Kerkez, Illia Zabarnyi and Dango Ouattara. Combined with their qualification for European football, the club believes it has no need to accept offers for its most important talents.

The same firm approach has also been applied to highly rated forward Junior Kroupi, who has attracted interest from both Arsenal and Tottenham. Brazilian youngster Rayan is also expected to stay after joining Bournemouth earlier this year and has shown no indication that he wants to leave the club.

Scott is currently with Bournemouth's squad at their pre-season training camp in Austria under new manager Marco Rose as preparations continue for the upcoming season. The midfielder also enjoyed another significant milestone in his career after receiving his first senior England call-up last November before later joining Thomas Tuchel's extended pre-World Cup training camp, although he is still waiting to make his senior international debut.

The transfer market for midfielders has been one of the busiest this summer. Chelsea recently completed the high-profile signing of Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa in a £117 million deal, while Manchester City are closing in on Nottingham Forest's Elliot Anderson. Tottenham have also strengthened their midfield with the arrivals of Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes in two major transfers.

Although Chelsea's interest in Alex Scott underlines the player's growing reputation as one of England's most promising midfielders, Bournemouth have sent a clear message that they are building for the future rather than breaking apart their squad. Unless the club changes its position or Scott pushes for a move, the midfielder looks set to remain an important part of Marco Rose's plans for the season ahead.
