Spurs manager Roberto de Zerbi said last week the Brazil forward had asked to leave the club and he looked close to joining former club Everton before Tuesday's transfer deadline, but a deal fell through. The 29-year-old has now been left out the club's squad to play in top-flight games for the first half of the season. It is understood Richarlison does not feature in Tottenham's plans this season, which was explained to the player before Tuesday's deadline. He is expected to leave the club in the coming days, with the transfer windows in Turkey and Saudi Arabia still open. Richarlison joined Tottenham from Everton in the summer of 2022, having joined the Toffees from Watford in 2018. He has entered the final year of his contract at the London club and, while he started Tottenham's defeat by Brentford in their opening game of the Premier League season, he was not included in De Zerbi's squad when Spurs lost 2-0 at home to Newcastle United on Saturday. After the game, De Zerbi said: "Richarlison, I don't know. He said too many times he wants to leave." Earlier in August, the Spurs boss said that the Brazilian was uncertain about his future, noting that "it's not easy to find another striker like Richarlison". However, Spurs recently signed Manchester City striker Omar Marmoush on loan and he replaced Richarlison against Newcastle. Richarlison was Tottenham's top scorer in the league last season with 11 goals in 32 appearances and also provided four assists as he was a key figure during their struggle for Premier League survival, which was secured on the final day. £300m spent, bottom of the table... but Spurs boss De Zerbi 'not angry' The Premier League premium is £20m - and that worries European clubs ShortsPreviousNext1:26Beth Mead's move to Man City 'will make her a better player' 00:01:26, play videoBeth Mead's move to Man City 'will make her a better player'0:53Chelsea make a profit by letting 39 players leave. 00:00:53, play videoChelsea make a profit by letting 39 players leave0:41Fans getting 'milked' for Ashes ticket prices. 00:00:41, play videoFans getting 'milked' for Ashes ticket prices0:51Former referee 'astounded' by Dean's 'in-match games' 00:00:51, play videoFormer referee 'astounded' by Dean's 'in-match games'0:48Why is the Argentine league stopping for Messi? 00:00:48, play videoWhy is the Argentine league stopping for Messi?0:44London City shirt deal biggest in women's game - Kang. 00:00:44, play videoLondon City shirt deal biggest in women's game - Kang0:56Time to triple up on Man City attackers on FPL? 00:00:56, play videoTime to triple up on Man City attackers on FPL?0:38Iraola 'very happy' to keep Gakpo at Liverpool. 00:00:38, play videoIraola 'very happy' to keep Gakpo at Liverpool0:57Kane explains how dropping deep helps him score. 00:00:57, play videoKane explains how dropping deep helps him score0:50Trump backs 'very fair' Woods plea deal. 00:00:50, play videoTrump backs 'very fair' Woods plea deal0:34Hewitt on pro players trying wheelchair tennis. 00:00:34, play videoHewitt on pro players trying wheelchair tennis1:24Billy Sharp - BEEF with Wrexham. 00:01:24, play videoBilly Sharp - BEEF with Wrexham1:01Rangers' McInnes on 'longest transfer window ever' 00:01:01, play videoRangers' McInnes on 'longest transfer window ever'0:36'I'd sell my house for her' - emotional fan meets Katie Taylor. 00:00:36, play video'I'd sell my house for her' - emotional fan meets Katie Taylor0:42Did Newcastle have a good transfer window? 00:00:42, play videoDid Newcastle have a good transfer window?1:16How close were Man Utd to signing Ait-Nouri? 00:01:16, play videoHow close were Man Utd to signing Ait-Nouri?Top storiesBreaking down Chelsea's staggering 39 summer exits Fifa accuses Uefa of 'smear campaign' against Infantino 'I was seeing spots' - third seed Auger-Aliassime stunned in New York Phil Wang and Susie Dent return with more newly coined words Real-life stories of catfishing and abuse, told by those who survived Ranking the most game-changing transfers in Premier League history Weekly sports quiz: Which tennis star suffered a first-round US Open upset?
